THE ORIGINAL ROSELS OF THE EARLY 1900'S AT THE NINE MILE

The property "Rosewell" was owned by Joseph Thomas and Winifred Edith ROSEL who settled on a dairy farm about 12 kilometres from Rockhampton off the Nine Mile/Alton Downs Road. They travelled to Rockhampton by horse driven transport with their cream for the butter factory in Rockhampton.

Their family consisted of Henry: Thomas: Ellen (STRACEY): Winifred (NEALE): Olive (MILLER): Joseph: and Eileen (CAVANOUGH). Ellen and Joseph settled on dairy farms in the Nile Mile area. All of the family attended the Dalma Road School. Joseph (snr), was a juryman for "Old Jack" Williams and Alex Archibald in the murder trial of Patrick Halligan of the Morninish gold rush saga days.
